Over the past week, Vectio’s multidisciplinary team of professionals has been constantly active, participating in three key events in the public transport and mobility sector. On 16 October, Dr Shireen Al Suleiman took part in the 22nd Technical Conference of the Metropolitan Mobility Observatory, entitled ‘Safe, Resilient and Restorative Mobility’, organised by the Generalitat Valenciana and TRANSyT-UPM, Transport Research Centre in Alicante. Throughout the day, there were a number of interesting presentations, such as the WMO analysis by Andrés Monzón and Cristina López, and round tables on the effect of public transport subsidies and cooperation for the recovery of mobility in the face of catastrophic situations such as the storm that devastated the province of Valencia in 2024.

On the afternoon of 19 October, our colleague Javier Fernández Hevia attended the meeting 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘤𝘪ó𝘯 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘥𝘢 𝘦𝘯 𝘭𝘢 𝘤 𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢 at the Congress of Deputies, which addressed the efficiency of natural resources and the interaction of people with the environment in a more sustainable way. Javier, a geographer at Vectio, is passionate about land use planning, as he made clear in his recent article on the historical construction of Oviedo’s area of influence through aerial imagery.

Finally, yesterday morning, 22 October, our Technical Director, Jorge Luis Rodríguez Rodríguez, took part in the conference “Customer experience and new mobility in the region of Asturias. Challenges and opportunities”, organised by the University of Oviedo, the Asturias Transport Consortium, Alsa and TRANSyT-UPM, the Transport Research Centre, in the auditorium of the Universidad Laboral. In his presentation, Jorge shared our experience in the #TúNosMueves Asturias project, a comprehensive study of the habits, needs and possible improvements for mobility in Asturias, in which Vectio | Traffic & transport planning has played a fundamental role.
