Siero City Council trusts again in Vectio for the technical study of its Low Emission Zone

The Law on Climate Change and Energy Transition requires all cities and municipalities in Spain with more than 50,000 inhabitants to establish a ZBE and in Vectio, as experts in Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans, we are proud to be able to help municipalities to adapt to this regulation. And that is why the City Council of Siero (Asturias) has once again placed its trust in Vectio, after having already carried out the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, has commissioned our Public Administration department to carry out the technical study of the Low Emission Zone for the municipality of La Pola.

In Siero, there are 56.13 vehicles per 100 inhabitants, a ratio higher than the average of Asturias and one of the reasons why the City Council is carrying out numerous actions to promote an alternative and more sustainable mobility. The clearest example of this is the extension of a network of bike lanes that already totals more than forty kilometers of roads throughout the council. From Vectio, among other issues, we propose the improvement of the bus line between Pola de Siero and the center of Gijón, with the creation of thirteen direct expeditions, concentrated in peak hours and every 35 minutes. We also propose improvements in the intercity bus offer in Parque Principado, the Feve Laviana- Gijón and Oviedo-Santander lines have increased their frequency, with an increase of up to twelve expeditions per day.
