The aim of the Household Mobility Survey presented on the 26th of February is to provide information on the mobility patterns of residents in the Community of Madrid over the age of 3.
In order to collect the necessary information, 85,064 persons were surveyed through face-to-face household and telephone surveys.
Some of the most outstanding data mentioned in the presentation is that 15.8 million trips are made daily in Comunidad de Madrid, with an average of 2.4 trips per person on an average working day. Sixty percent of the trips are made in sustainable modes, a trend that we expect to continue and increase.
Unfortunately, the share of private vehicles in the 2018 modal split has risen from 28% in 2004 to 39% and the share of public transport has increased from 32% in 2004 to 24%.
The objective is to go from 1 in 4 to 1 in 3 trips on public transport; how? By establishing Transit Oriented Development TODs, promoting a Sustainable Mobility Law and reaching a global agreement between administrations as soon as possible.
The data presented will be made public on the website of the Madrid Transit Consortium.
