ATC Surveys in the operation area of a short-distance train

Infrastructure & Engineering

The client wanted to study, through the use of artificial vision ATC surveys technology, the traffic that circulates through five intersections located in Madrid, for 14 hours a day (from 07:00 to 21:00), during five days, from Monday to Friday.

The work carried out was structured in two phases

  • The first phase consisted of field works, in which a visit to the area was made to evaluate the area and determine the locations for the gauging equipment. Data was obtained by installing six artificial vision cameras in various intersections.
  • In the second phase, the data collected in the field work phase was processed and analysed, while the historical databases of permanent ATC surveys in the area were consulted, in order to be able to establish a traffic model that represents the average values for the study area.
