The City Council of Miajadas commissioned Vectio, in its desire to update its transport infrastructure network by providing it with greater security and comfort, to promote sustainability among its citizens.
To do this, the works were divided up into different phases:
- In the first phase, on site work related to traffic and mobility was carried out. A campaign of ATC surveys installed with pneumatic tube technology, radar and artificial vision cameras was carried out. A survey campaign of revealed preference was also carried out for the residents of Miajadas, as well as an inventory of the existing car parks.
- In a second phase, a mobility analysis was conducted based on city councils and on-site work, for a diagnosis of the existing situation. To do this, analysis techniques were used, carrying out an assessment of the capacity and signage of the road, the infrastructures dedicated to pedestrians and bicycles were analysed, as well as signage, road safety and car parks.
- In the third phase of work, the future solutions were defined. The large areas that were planned were: sustainable mobility (promotion of cycling, pedestrian and public transport mobility), safe mobility (road design that encourages low speeds and the co-existence of different means of transport and pedestrians, as well as a part of safe school mobility). Finally, management of the car park through park and rides.
