Traffic assessment for a pedestrian ATC survey

Estudio de trafico

The client City Council has requested the Demarcation of State Roads in Western Castile and Leon to install traffic lights with a push button at two pedestrian crossings. This requires a study of pedestrian intensities at both points, during an average working day of 16 hours (06:00-22:00).

The work carried out for this study was as follows:

  • The first phase consisted of field work, in which a visit was made to the area to evaluate the area and determine the location for the ATC survey equipment. Data was obtained through the installation of two artificial vision cameras that recorded the aforementioned pedestrian crossings.
  • In the second phase, the data collected in the field work phase was processed and analysed, while the data obtained from the ATC survey carried out in the same locations was consulted, in order to be able to establish a traffic model that represents the average values of the study area.
