Commercial developments & Retail

The client requests a traffic and mobility study that characterizes the traffic impact generated by the new retail park at San Cibrao das Viñas and evaluates the accesses and their capacity to absorb the new demand. To do this, this study has to obtain and know the current traffic flow of the environment, estimate the generation of mobility of the proposed new development, and then diagnose the road capacity of the detour alternatives and their level of service, as well as propose improvements to ensure the alternative of greater fluidity and safety for access to the study area to occur optimally. The work carried out covered all the requirements established for the traffic study for new mobility generating centers:

  • Description of the site, environment and scope of the plan.
  • Program of uses of the plan or project.
  • Existing and foreseeable traffic and transportation conditions at access points to the main road network.
  • Estimated peak hour trip generation.
  • Modal split and vehicular traffic generated.
  • Evaluation, location and, where appropriate, design of access points and internal elements of the main network.
  • Evaluation of the operation of access points and internal elements of the main network.

  • Aerial filming with drone or unmanned aircraft over the traffic circle that channels the access traffic to the San Cibrao das Viñas Industrial Park.
  • Videos of the route with an on-board camera in a vehicle with georeferencing from the different origins proposed.
  • Automated counting with artificial vision software from field filming of vehicles in the field, in order to know the distribution of flows in the surrounding roads.
  • Study of future traffic assignment following the four-step methodology of transport modeling.
  • Analysis of the Level of Service of the surrounding roads following the Highway Capacity Manual methodology.
