This traffic and mobility assessment responds to the client’s request, as a promoter of different developments located in the area of San Blas – Canillejas, Madrid.
In compliance with the requirements of the current urban planning legislation of the Madrid City Council, a traffic study is required to provide information on the current flow of travel in the area, to estimate the traffic generation of future developments based on their land uses and to diagnose, thanks to the use of simulation software, the road capacity and its level of service.
This area where the plots are to be developed requires a previous planning and design phase, and special attention must be paid to the accessibility of the future development, the current mobility and traffic conditions, as well as the capacity of the surroundings to absorb the increase in traffic volume derived from the new activities.
The new developments do not have an associated activity for the moment, but they will be associated with a high generation of trips in order to make some calculations on the security side. Therefore, the field work served to characterise the current situation, identifying the current capacity and demand of the roads in the area of study, as well as current critical points. Therefore, the field work was the basis for the analysis and diagnosis of the current situation, in order to evaluate the effect of the new activity to be developed.
