The purpose of this traffic study was to provide the client company with a mobility study for the processing of the municipal development license for offices in the city of Madrid. In compliance with the requirements of the current urban planning legislation of the Madrid City Council, a traffic study is required to show the current flow of travel in the area, to estimate the traffic generation of the future development based on the land uses of the area and to diagnose, thanks to the use of simulation software, the road capacity and its level of service.
In addition, because the implementation of a new activity will generate, to a greater or lesser extent, an impact on the operating conditions of existing infrastructures, a series of actions will be proposed and analysed to mitigate the negative effects of the new development and maintain its current level of service, ensuring traffic conditions with efficient and fluid mobility.
With the approval of the study’s management, it was proposed that the study be carried out in two different parts, separated in time.
The first part was the previous traffic study, with the capture of mobility data in the study environment and, on the other hand, using georeferenced film equipment, the routes from the different most influential origins to the plot under study were carried out.
In the second part, using the data captured at the first point, the current configuration of the municipal road and that of the new development were carried out using simulation techniques.
